A backyard remodel built for Torrance

South and West Torrance have some of the largest flat residential lots in the South Bay, which makes them ideal for a full backyard resort: pool and spa, outdoor kitchen, covered lounge, fire feature, and still room for the kids to play. A backyard remodel in Torrance has fewer slope problems than the Peninsula, but more of it depends on soils and on your electrical service. We're working in Torrance right now. On a current job, we installed a hot tub under a covered patio on the far side of the house from the main panel. We added new breakers in the main panel and a spa disconnect subpanel with GFCI breakers, ran wire through the walls and under the house, and finished outside in conduit bent to follow the house wall to the tub. Plan the power before the pool

A backyard resort is an electrical project as much as a construction one. Pool pumps and heaters, a hot tub, a sauna heater, a cold plunge chiller, outdoor kitchen appliances, patio heaters, and landscape lighting all draw on the same service. Many Torrance homes were built with panels sized for a much smaller load. We check your panel and service at the first visit, and if a subpanel or panel upgrade is needed, it goes in the plan, not into a change order.

South Torrance, West Torrance, and the Riviera

South Torrance, West Torrance, and Walteria are where full programs fit best. The Hollywood Riviera and Madrona have more slope and fall partly within the city's Hillside Overlay, which adds setback and height rules that affect pergolas, pool houses, and raised decks. Soils vary, from coastal sand near the beach side to clay inland. Clay soils move with moisture, and pool shells and footings have to be engineered for that.

Torrance is its own building jurisdiction, with Building & Safety at 3031 Torrance Blvd. Pools, spas, patio covers, and anything with new gas or electrical go through it, and we draw, submit, and handle inspections.
