Developments designed to make the everyday extraordinary.

Founded in 1978, DECOMA Industries has been the South Bay's choice for commercial and residential development, construction, and management for over forty years. We're a family-run general contractor and strategic real estate company, specializing in the new development, renovation, and adaptive reuse of commercial and residential properties across Torrance, El Segundo, Redondo Beach, Palos Verdes, San Pedro, and greater Los Angeles. We're experts at increasing a property's value and turning an investment into a financial success.

We've completed over 3,000 projects in the Los Angeles area for a remarkably diverse range of clients — from Walt Disney Imagineering, McDonnell Douglas, Northrop, and Westfield to South Bay homeowners we've built for across three decades. The work spans progressive urban infill and adaptive-reuse development, high-end apartment rehabilitation with ongoing property management, commercial construction and tenant improvements, and custom homes. Our team of problem-solvers has deep experience with the structural, income, environmental, and parking issues that make or break a project. The full client list runs long, and most of it is repeat business.

Whether you need a trustworthy developer, a general contractor, or a property manager, DECOMA is built to be all three — guiding clients through every phase of a project under one license, one schedule, and one point of accountability.

Three disciplines, one license

What sets DECOMA apart is that we design, build, and manage under one roof. The people who scope your project carry it through permit, self-perform the construction under our CSLB Class A and B license (#375508), and — when you want it — run the building afterward. That's why our projects hold their budgets and our clients stay with us: there's no handoff, no finger-pointing, and no gap between the people who plan the work and the people who deliver it.

Meet the people behind the work

FAQ

Common questions.

Is DECOMA Industries family-run?
Yes. DECOMA has been family-run since 1978 and is led today by John Notaro, President & CEO — a second-generation South Bay general contractor who has been on job sites here for over forty years. When you call in year ten, the same family answers the phone.
What areas does DECOMA serve?
The South Bay of Los Angeles and greater LA County — Torrance, El Segundo, Redondo Beach, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Palos Verdes Estates, Rancho Palos Verdes, San Pedro, Harbor City, and the City of Los Angeles. We're based in Harbor City and have built across these cities for more than four decades.
Is DECOMA a general contractor, a developer, or a property manager?
All three, under one roof — that's the model. We develop and design projects, self-perform the construction under our CSLB Class A and B license, and manage the finished buildings through our property-management arm. Single-point accountability is why our work lands on budget and clients keep coming back.
What licenses does DECOMA hold?
DECOMA holds a CSLB Class A (general engineering) and Class B (general building) license, #375508, and John Notaro is a licensed California Real Estate Broker. That combination lets us self-perform structural and building scopes most contractors have to sub out.
How many projects has DECOMA completed?
Over 3,000 across the Los Angeles area since 1978 — commercial, residential, adaptive reuse, and development — for clients ranging from studios and aerospace to South Bay homeowners. Most of the work is repeat business. You can see the range on our projects and client-list pages.
